It has the IH logo, but has been modified some. Can anyone give me a model name or number. Did it have the fast hitch prongs originaly? Are the hydraulics after market versus manual? Any info would be great. Thank you. Brian

You have a 27V sickle mower. I have two of them in my backyard.

The hydraulic setup is homemade but looks very functional. Originally used a one way cylinder that was mounted on the right side of the tractor that pushed on a lever that was hooked to a chain that pulled somewhere in the vicinity of where that cylinder is mounted.

The bar on the very front bolts directly to the fixed drawbar once you moved the sliding drawbar to one side (or removed it). Looks like they've welded on some extra plates.

Looks complete except for the front half of the PTO shaft. The hardest part is getting that first bolt in when hooking it on. It's simple and parts are not hard to find.

Here is the closest I could get to an original photo of a similar model from the IH Archives.

At least it gives you an idea of what it should look like restored.

Originally, it had a 6-foot long lever to raise and lower the bar -- note the piece of iron on the raising mechanism. It took a real man to farm in those days!

I have the same mower. It originally had the long handle to raise the mower. We rode around the field with the latch handle flipped over backward so it wouldn't catch when we raised the bar by pushing down with the right foot. I cut off the lever and added a hydraulic cylinder, much like your photo. It was made way before fast hitch was developed. I use 2 bolts to attach it to the drawbar on my "H" my grandfather bought new in 1952.
