wheel weight bolts rusted to wheel Farmall C

Can you remove the wheel weights with the nuts removed? If you can, then you could heat the bolt heads. Hal

I had the same issue but with the rim bolts on an H. Lots of heat, penetrating oil, and a big hammer finally made them move.

I had the same problem with rim clamps on an H, Just takes a BFH and a little bit of time. I would assume you"ll need to find new bolts, I did.

Good that you mentioned new bolts. My thoughts are that any bolt that was rusted in is severely compromised in strength and should never be used again. Also, a brand new HEX head bolt from a good hardware store can replace the old square head bolts.

Farmall Hal put me in contact with a guy in Indiana who sold square head bolts for Farmalls. I think they were $15 each from Case-IH and I got them for around $3 each. They looked to be square head bolts that he used a die on and extended the threadds, I could see a difference in the original threading and the extended threading but they worked fine.

have had similar problems on bolts in ford heavy cast centers, especially the larger PA rims.

big hammer.. lots of penetrant, heat, and replacement bolts...

good luck

I just bought some square head bolts at the local Fastenall store for some front weights. I think they were 99 cents each and the square nuts where like 33 cents each I think. I did not price the larger ones for the rear wheels but bought some there years ago.

Around here we have 2 different nut and bolt companies.
They have just about anything you could ever look for.
Let your fingers do the walking thru the yellow pages ... :D

A pistol grip demo-hammer or rivet-hammer will push those bolts out without much hesitation. The 400-600 impacts per minute can do alot of work quickly.

A large sledge hammer can deliver higher impacts but you are probably no John Henry. Even he could not beat the early steam drill.
