385 seat problem

The seat on my 1985 385 IH needs to be replaced, no big deal but it is a delux seat and seems to have no impact absorbing abilities is it just the shock absorber that needs replacing or what????????

The strut is probably shot....you may luck out with a junk yard seat for parts.

The factory seats on the 85 series etc are very $$$$ not uncommon to see a cheapo $99 seat installed in place of the mega $$$ CNH wants for a new one.

Well I think I located the problem but not sure I understand it. The setting with what looks to be a ratchet handle is set to the lightest(lowest weight operator) I guess the blue handle pulls out to change direction of the ratchet correct??Mine appear to be frozen stiff so I am going to have to take somethings apart to get a better idea. Am I right in the therory of operatrion of the rachet handle.???
