just headed out to work and left my manuals at home.

was planning on hitting walmart onthe way home for gear oil or utf.

as I understand it the rear end and trans ( including pto ) is a common sump.

what quantity does it hold.

also.. UTF or gear oil?

lastly, I found the fill in the front left of the op platform, assume I will find a drain underneath.

is there a level check.

and someone mentioned putting some in near the pto shaft?

thanks

As per the I-T manual it holds 19qts. Me I use the 85W-140 on my BA due to the fact these farmall transmission tend to make a lot of noise and that help make them a little less noisy

cool, so 5g will do it.

do you just pour it all in up at the left front of the op platform?

any level check plugs?

havn't pressure washed the bottom yet.. where's the drain?

i see some plugs near the pto area, and mine has a blank off plate for where a belt pulley would have been.

anything go up there?

thanks

drain plug is center of axles, center of tractor. If you have swinging draw bar, you will need to move it to one side or another. there is a small check plug about 1/4 inch square on, I believe, left side. My friend says to never drain one totally, to crack open the drain and let the goop out and then fill. the pto is i believe separate. cannot remember about check plug.

what's the thiking behind the no complete drain?

as for the pto.. does it have a small perched oil compartment or something?

owners manual is real vauge on lubrication...

Been a while since I filled my C, but drain is centered between axles basically.....square plug use a half inch drive ratchet. Might also drain the PTO/pulley assy. Fill the PTO to level plug, then use remaining in the operator platform just behind clutch. I think I used GL 5 gear oil in mine. Careful with the drain plug, as I think I mentioned that I broke mine out, then had to weld a bolt to it in order to remove. It had never been drained and had at least a gallon of water in the bottom, thus rusting the plug but good.

Use SAE 90, 80W90, or 85-140. I use 85-140. Do not use UTF. Unlike the A,B, Super A, your transmission should be quiet.

thanks, I'll use 85-140. I like to put that in final drive boxes like on my cub and rowcrop fords.
