Farmall H exhaust manifold holes

Has anyone ever developed holes in their exhuast manifold in the bottom corner above the carb. I had trouble starting my tractor and changed the points condenser and rotor cap. She fired rigth up but the rpms were pulsing and i was looking at the manifold and found two small holes about 1/8" size. These shouldn"t be there correct? My Farmall m sure doesn"t have these. They look like perfect holes thats why im puzzled.

Those holes are there to allow any water that gets down the exhaust to drain out instead of going into the engine. They are actually good, and I would think your M would have had them too originally.

Your M does have them. They are just plugged up with rust and carbon. Like Zach said, they are supposed to be there.

Must have a distillate/kerosene manifold on the H, gas manifold on the M? Ive never seen them on gas manifolds, not saying they arent there, just never seen them.

The holes are there on the gas manifolds.

If the holes are in the exhaust part of the manifold, as others said they are for draining rain water that may come down the exhaust. If they are in the intake part of the manifold, they should not be there and the tractor won't run right (or at all) with a hole in the intake manifold.

Would really like to know where....I just walked out and looked on my Ms, all of which have original IH manifolds, except one which has a gas manifold off of another gas M, and about 6 broken ones in my junk pile, which are also IH manifolds, I see no holes what-so-ever for water drainage. I also have a NOS gas H manifold, package dated 1944, and I dont see any weepholes.

They are in the front lower corners facing the front of tractor and are at about 45°.

One of these was not at all visible when I got it. As you can see one is plugged and it only has about 30 hours of run time since they were cleaned.
This is a 1950, I wonder if the holes were on later models????

John is your manifold like the one pictured? Looks like its a 8035DC manifold. If you have 8035DD manifolds (no squared heat box at front side of manifold) they may only have one hole to rear side and if they stop up and rust over there's no way to see a hole unless cleaned to bare metal. Guess some could miss getting the holes but kind of strange all yours would not have them.

Sometimes a vacuum line was tapped into the intake manifold to power a milker. If it's threaded just find a screw that fits.

On my 40, I have the one pictured, on my 2 41s, one has one like pictured, the other is the propane manifold. Several of the ones in my scrap pile are like pictured, the NOS one I have for an H is similar, but just a tad smaller, of course. Al of the Hs and Ms Ive worked on in the past, to my knowledge didnt have it. (Or I never noticed it, and Ive done alot of Hs and Ms) Ill have to dig around and see if I can find pics of the NOS manifold. Seems like someone mentioned this a while back, and I was blasted until I proved it didnt have a hole in it.
