mw clutch on m

How do you remove the drum from the side of the tractor have already removed all the bolts that go through the retainer into the rear.

I believe it is necessary to remove the top cover and pull the left axle to allow the bull gear to roll rearward on shims to pull the components necessary for a change back to standard bull pinion. Pulling it out without removing the bull gear will break things you need. Jim

If its the drum the clutch plates go in? After everything is out of the drum look for the retainer with 3 screws at back of drum. After the seal retainer is removed you should find a drum retaining ring in a grove on the bull pinion shaft. remove the ring and the drum comes off. To remove the bull pinion gear and shaft and the bull pinion housing the bull gear inside the rear end needs moved out of the way.

I am pulling it off a m I bought last week was going to restore the tractor but it is to far gone. I only paid 200 for the tractor. The hand clutch has all new plates and fiber discs and got 3 extra discs with the tractor and some other parts not to mention a full set of hm238 cultivators. I want to put the clutch on my MD so how much work am I looking at???

You will need every part frm the pinion to the cover and lever assembly. I would guess if you have a cherry picker and tools, about 5 hours to remove. Putting it in will be about 15 more due to disassembly needed on the recieving M. That would be assuming you are an organized skilled mechanic, with a facility to work with comfort and clean work space. Prepare by purchasing gaskets and seals ahead of the need. The top cover is easily sealed with a light film of RTV instread of a gasket. Replace the seals on the Pinion shaft to be assured there is no contamination getting into the new clutch pack.
