The original subject was "Farmall 300 PTO drive gear".

my 300 utility's teeth look just like yours. How did you get it out? I'm haviny a heck of a time with this!

I have not seen TJ Brewer on this site for a long long time. Show us some pictures or give us a description of your situation, and maybe we can help. Jim

I have a 300 utility that the pto drive gear in the center of the tractor that runs off of the main drive shaft is missing about 4 teeth and wasn't even bolted in When I found out why pto didn't work. It looks like if I can get the pto spline to go a 1/2 " towards the rear of the tractor that gear will come out. I just can't figure out how to get it back without tearing up bearings holding that part of the pto in. I will take some pics in the morning and post them. Thanks for any insight.

There is a T shaped cover plate on the bottom (or a seasonal disconnect if an early 300U) take this off to see if there is a bearing retainer that can be loosened (part # 21 in the parts diagram in the on line parts exploded view. (caseih .com)

If you are talking about the lower driven gear, you have to split the center section from the rear end. There is a snap ring holding that shaft you are trying to push back, that you have to access from the back side of the center section. Remove that and you can take the shaft out and get the gear out.

I don't have the lower gear, but do have a spare upper drive gear with bearings.

Yes that retainer is on my tractor. What will loosening that do? I believe I have the clearance in between the two pto shafts where the seasonal disconnect is if I can just get the front spline to move up that 1/2" the gear will drop. But I'm not that lucky or am not seeing the answer. I hate to have to split the tractor for a 1/2" .

So splitting the tractor it is. Won't be able to say "haven't
done that before" after i get done with this. Is there anything
I should change out or maintain while she's split.

Thanks for all your help. I haven't spent much time on these forums but yall have been a great help when I'm in a jam.
