More IH 806 Wheatland questions.......Thanks guys!

I just want to start by saying thanks to everyone who has helped me already, this site it great and It is as helpfull to me as my favorite Ski-Doo snowmobile website! A couple of IH 806 wheatland questions for you guys if you have time???

1) I am putting wheatland fenders back on my 806, will 18.4/38's fit under these fenders? Does anyone have a use for 34" cast hubs and rims with 23.1/34 rubber?

2) This tractor was originally bareback, I have a full factory 3 point to put back on it but will it work with wheatland fenders? I would like to pull a semi mounted plow with it as they are more common in my area than an on land plow.

3)Does anyone have a handle on how the brakes work on these things? The brakes on my tractor are sticking. If the tractor sits they will release but as soon as it runs for a few minutes they build psi and drag. I can loosen the bleeders while tre tractor is running and hyd oil comes out. My understanding is that something is leaking by the brake pedal valve but I went to a buddy's 1206 and it does the same thing and his brakes work fine??

Any help is appreciated!

Junky

The brakes either need the valve adjusted, by loosening the clevise bolt and turning the spool with a nail, or the valve pistons are leaking by.
Both are not hard to do.

1) Yes, 18.4 x 38"s will fit under the wide wheatland fenders; mine is set up this way. There were multiple tire size options.
2) Yes, the a 3pth will work with the wheatland fenders, but not with the platform extension.
3) Sorry, can"t help with the brakes.
Just curious, do you have 7.50x20"s on the front of your tractor?

Thanks for all of the replies everyone, this tractor at one time or another has had an adjustable front axle put under it, so no it does not have 20" rubber. I would also like to find a fixed front axle with 7.5-20"s. I would be willing to trade the adjustable front axle for a fixed if anyone has one!

Thanks, Junky!

The adjustable front axle on the International 806 was also available with 7:50 x 20 tires and wheels. In the South most International 806's were sold with adjustable front axle, 7:50 x 20 front and 23.1 x 34 R2 rear, and hand clutch. However, many many times as many Farmalls were sold as were Internationals.

Thanks Harold, so basically If I was concerned about leaving the tractor with a "stock appearance" I could simply swap out the front rubber without much critisism? As always thanks for the help!

The Wheatland front end sets back under the tractor a little bit, giving the tractor a shorter wheelbase.

A Farmall wide front sets right at the front of the tractor, and the front wheels stick out past the front of the tractor.

There are tons of pictures of 06 and 56 series Wheatland tractors on the net. Have a look-see and you should be able to spot the differences.

As Mkirsch says, the Internationals have a shorter wheelbase than the Farmalls. The International 806 also has a different type steering from the Farmall 806. On the Farmall, the steering, both tricycle and wide front, is acomplished by the steering bolster (where the tricycle pedistle normally mounts.) On the International, steering is accomplished by an external cylinder.

thanks guys, been looking at some pics on the web of other international tractors and trying to determine how this tractor was "originally" set up as to how it sits now. It is serial number I806 853sy. I can't decide wether or not to hunt for a fixed front axle or leave it with an adjustable one, I have a set of wheatland fenders and platform lined up for it...looking for some answers/suggestions.

The adjustable wide front is probably original and is completely different from a Farmall wide front axle, so I would leave it on the tractor. However, I would change to the 7:50 x 20 front wheels and definitely put the big International type fenders and platform back on it. I would also definitely keep the 23.1 x 34 rear tires, as that is the way a large precentage of them were originally equipped. Just my suggestions.

Harold would you have some free time to talk about wheatland or standard tractors? I think you could help me out a bunch! If you had time a phone call would be greatly appreciated! 217-202-6055 thanks!
