I put a 2-way hyd loader with hyd bucket on a 350.With the reservoir full the boom will only raise to a little over half way up.Could I tee a 2 or 3 gallon tank into the return inlet of the of the hyd reservoir? thank-you.

Check the level of hydraulic oil in the resevoir when the loader is raised as high as it will currently go. If it is low, add more oil. The excess oil should flow into the other side of the loader cylinders when you let it back down.

This will only work if the cylinder rod is of a small enough diameter to help your situation. Many loader cylinders have a heavy rod and the bearing end will not hold enough fluid to help much with the overall capacity. Raising to to the highest level and then adding and you may just push fluid out the fill cap when you let it down. I'm sure you have already filled the reservoir to capacity with the cylinders retracted, so adding another reservoir would be your only option. I'm not familiar with a 350 reservoir, but Dad had to add to a reservoir and just screwed a pipe fitting into the fill port and added about a 2 gallon reservoir off that. The added tank had a pipe fill plug with a breather hole in it.
My loader has a built in reservoir, but it also has an external pump on the tractor.

If the loader booms are really 2-way, they are probably dry on the top side if you just installed the loader.

Try re-filling the reservoir once and raising the boom arms the rest of the way. When you let them down the oil will push into the top sides of the cylinders.

ONLY do this if you are 100% sure that the cylinders are two-way. If the boom cylinders are only 1-way, you will end up with a mess somewhere.

My 300 has about a two gallon tank added the same way IH Fan describes - pipe threaded into the main reservoir filler hole connecting to the cylinder shaped tank above. That tank has a breather type cap on it's filler neck.

You can add a tank, but during installation, take into account your current reservoir has a breather installed, it will need to be either raised above the oil level in the new tank, or plugged off, with a new breather added to the highest point of either tank or reservoir.

The one my dad had was on a C and the fill plug is on the right side at a 45 degree angle. Nipple, 45 fitting, nipple and a rectangular reservoir beside the gas tank of about 2 gallon capacity and he was in business. His was only single action, but same would apply to a double acting if you need more capacity. As stated, it will need to extend above the current reservoir with a breather of some type.

Thanks for all of your help. I think i will try connecting a 3 gal tank to fill hole of the resevoir..Thanks again
