Hydralic Pump Question for a 1950 Super A

In the picture I have attached I want to know is the washer under the nut supposed to be bent or looked like it does in the picture. Sorry for the blurryness...

If anyone can help I'd appreaciate it. Hydralic system seemed to work fine prior to taking apart. Only taking apart to clean and paint system, so no reason for this question other than I just wanted to make sure...

I have just taken the hydraulic pump out of a German built IH D-214. Its Bosch pump also has the washer bent up to act as a lock on the nut. I will pull the pump on my 1948 Super A early next year once the restoration of the D-214 is complete.

I have replaced a couple of those pumps because the washer wasnt bent and the gear got loose and ruined the shaft also the gear so make sure that washer is bent to keep the nut tight.

Thank you all very much. I was hoping it was just the way it is supposed to be. I was just taking it off to complete the painting didn't need any extra issues to deal with. Thanks again.

yes - washer is really only there to be bent up and keep the nut from spinning off.

But on another topic - I see an oil spot below your left rear final drive (left to the driver). Looks like the seal's leaking?

Maybe it's just parked there coincidentally -

But but figured I'd add that I had a leak like that, until I realized the transmission was overfilled. With the correct level of trans fluid, they shouldn't leak like that, no matter how bad the seal is. The oil level shouldn't reach the seal. (they take a suprisingly small amount of trans oil)

Not to say it shouldn't be fixed at some point, but for me it was a relief to be able to put it off and stop leaving oil spots everywhere.

Thanks, for the seal leak spotting.... I believe you are correct in an over-filled transmission. Prior to filling did not have knowledge of where the fill level plug is. I have purchased a Owners manual and will be checking all fluid level before leaving garage.

Thanks again....
