farmall B BN

A Farmall BN has the same width axles as the right side of a Faramll A. If you sit on an A and then a B you will notice the B is wider on the right side.

The differential shafts and housings on each side of a B are 22" long, on a BN they are 18" each side. The engine, transmission, final drives, steering gear, seat, etc. are all identical.

The BN has a narrower drawbar, foot pan & pedal guard. The BN differential shaft housings are the same length as those on an A, but they are not the same casting.

To tell at a glance whether it is a B or a BN, look at how the seat is mounted. If the right-hand seat bracket is against the fender, using the same bolts, it is a BN. If the seat bracket is mounted 4" from the fender, it is a B.

The picture is of a B, note the 22" differential shaft assembly and the 4" space between the fender and seat mounting bracket.
