47 cub timming problem

I've got a very early 47 cub (#36) and I had to remove the governor to repair the shaft/linkage . Now I can't seem to find the notches that the book talks about. I've trunned over the engine and watiched both sides of the idealer gear to no avail. I've looked at both sides of the governor gear and haven't found a notch
Any suggestions. I had it running before I tore her apart to clean her up.
Thanks Frank

yes, located on mag/dist side , you may have to clean the gear edge up with some brake cleaner, while turning the gear. the mark on the gear is small , and you need to have a clean surface to find it. let us know if you cannot find it. Jim

Set the engine crank to TDC on compression stroke on #1 cylinder.
Remove the Mag and Governor, from the Mag side look in past the seal.
The timing mark can be seen in the crest of the gear. Mark the teeth on either side of the mark with chalk.
Now find the corresponding timing mark on the governor gear, and mark it with chalk to help line them up when you install the governor.
With the governor now installed and in "time" the index points should be a 2 and 8 o'clock position.
