Does anybody make engine bearings for a 400D?

I know that no large company makes runs of 400 diesel bearings anymore, but are there any companies that can make one-off bearings for rod and main?

I was told by a engine rebuilder that they have access to make any bearing out there, discontinued or not, and they do it all the time. They told me they just happened upon this source. Sounds too good to be true.

Check with your local auto machine shop. They may be able to get bearings. They would probably need to measure the crankshaft to see if its worn. Hal

Yeah just search farmall md-450 diesel engine kits. Bates
corp, carter and gruenewald are just a few. These diesels are
pretty expensive when you start buying parts. I have a 51 md
and have been pricing a complete overhaul im at 6500
already.

I believe it to be reasonable to make or modify existing bearing sets for other applications. There are thousands of stock sets, some must be very close to correct. If they warrantee them do it. Always compare prices. Jim

Its true, there are a few comapnies that will make the bearings. The problem I ran in to was getting the center main, they couldnt make that one, and NOBODY had it! (Of course this was like 9 years ago, so Im sure someone has it now!)

yep believe that. when i quoted its possible to spend 10,000 i was laughed at, saying it could be done for 3000.00
