656 no forward or reverse movement

I just got done putting a motor in a 656 that I bought not knowing much about. It's a gear drive not a hydrostat. I got it all running and put about an hour on it in front of a speed mover, and it seemed to run fine shifted the TA several times and it never acted up at all. I finished putting the sheet metal on along with a few small details to finish it up and put it in front of the speed mover again and about 5 minutes into it I was shifting the TA forward and it made a little noise and stopped and now I have no forward or reverse movement, and it's making a small intermittant noise that sounds lke from the front of the TA housing. I do have steering and hydraulics. Any ideas before I start digging? Thankyou

Best guess is a broken clutch hub. The center of the disk with the springs comes apart and no go. The TA will move in Low ta even is its front clutch is toast. It will not move in Low TA if the one way clutch (rear of TA) is out, but would move in Direct. My guess Clutch hub. Jim

New clutch with motor but I guess that doesn't mean it didn't break. Kind of makes sense with where I'm hearing the noise

Next guess, spline coupler in ta. I would take the small four bolt cover off top of TA and look at input shaft. If it does not turn it will no doubt be the clutch like Jim said , if it does turn but nothing in ta turns it is likely the coupler..

Thanks. I finally got back in my shop and tore it down and found it to be the coupler. Smoothed off all the splines on the TA side.
