I am seeing NOS mufflers to be released Summer 2012. I also see NELSON mufflers redily available and listed for awhile now.

Does anyone know about the NOS ones being released this summer????

Are NELSON mufflers good ones ???? I can buy those right now.

I am probably not going to buy another STANLEY.They seem to rust internally pretty quick.(For my Super M)

These are the same exact thing as the factory put on them. They are also the same exact ones Marks Tractor (?) was building until he went MIA.

They are not NOS (new old stock). They will be made by IH plans and will be exactly like the mufflers sold in the late 40's? and 50's. Nelson's just happen to be what CaseIH is selling now. The new ones will be sold only by Carter and Gruenewald, far as I know.

Does anyone have a clue as to pricing on these? I just bought a new Nelson muffler for my C last spring, but might be interested if pricing is right. I know the Nelson is far and away a better muffler than the Stanley, and the Nelson replaced another Nelson that lasted approx 10 years and it sat out in the weather about half that time finally rusting off where the inlet pipe meets the body. I think I paid about $50 for the Nelson last year at dealer.

It's in this R ed P ower M agazine. IIRC it is $50-75 for mild steel and $125 for polished stainless.

Mark's were crimped where the pipe goes through the body and leaked a little exhaust.
I read somewhere the new C&G would be welded.
I have one from Mark on my H.

Correct, these will be welded, not crimped and press fit like the ones Marks used to offer.

We had too many complaints on them leaking and are now using a new vendor to make these with.

We are adding the IH stamp to them and will have nos style mufflers for the CUB and CUB LO-BOY too!

Ken, will they also have the IH part no. like Mark's had in addition to the IH trademark which Mark's didn't? I have a NOS one still in the box from the 1950-60's with the IH paper labels still attached which has both (p/n and trademark) rolled into the outer shell. How would you like payment or a deposit for one to get on the list for one when they become available? Are you also going to be offering stainless steel clamps like Mark had? Your response will be most appreciated, Hal.

We are adding the IH stamp to the mufflers and they will have the part number stamped in them too. These will have welded seams so they won't leak too!

We can't find an economical source for stainless clamps or rain caps (actually we can get both, but it's a 10K piece minimum run for each)....We are going to have chrome plated clamps and rain caps availible. The chrome plater we use does work for KENWORTH and PTERBILT truck, so its NOT JUNK!!!

No deposit is necessary, but if anyone wants to be on the list, ring me toll free @ 1-866-FARMALL (327-6255) 8-5 cst M-F
