1086 electrical question

The gage cluster has quit working on my 1086, I could see one gage going out but not all at once. They are the manual gages & not the digital dash. Is there any way to test the gage cluster or has anyone else has this problem & know the solution ?

Thanks

The top fuse (5 amp) in the fuse panel provides power to the instrument gauges. Power comes from the key switch through this fuse and back up to the instrument cluster.

(quoted from post at 10:26:15 01/15/12) Check that ground connection down at the bottom of right A-piller.

There is a ground stud on the front side of the dash between the tach and the instrument cluster. There should also be a wire connecting the stud to a chassis ground on the right side of the clutch housing near the starter. There should be two wires connected there. The other one is for the lights on the lower front cab corners.

Thanks for the info men, problem solved. The fuse was hot on both ends but the spade lug at the end of the fuse block was only hot part of the time. I put a new wire on the lug on the other end, installed an inline fuse & fixed it to the wire going to the instrument cluster & all works well.

Thanks again,
Dave
