I looked at an H yesterday that had rear mount IH sickle mower on it. What model were these mowers?and how do I tell one from the other?I am thinking of buying as a package deal, but I have never been around these old mowers. Also,I was told the tractor was a 1951, but it has disc brakes.( Not a super)An earlier post said late 1953 for disc brakes.Could these be an after market??

Osco Lambert brakes have 3 bolts to hold them on, IH brakes have 5 bolts.
Very late 52 H Farmalls have IH disks. Jim

What does the mower look like? Does it have a wooden pitman stick or a long belt with a big steel wobble box (balanced head mower)?

A working balanced head mower could easily be worth $350 to $600 or more in the right place.

As said, wood pitman or belt drive with the latter being a balanced head mower and just a step up from the pitman style. I would not expect $100 for a pitman mower unless it were a collector who really wanted it. I have two balanced head mowers here and I paid $105 for the semi-mount model 120 on ebay a couple years back with a lot of extras and it works. I have seen wrecked ones fetch over $200. I paid a bit more for my mid mount 115 and had it shipped from MN. But I use that mower weekly from May to September and would never part with it. It's a back saver.

The brakes have three bolts that hold them on.Would the lambert brakes have been factory installed in late 1952?? Also the mower has a pitman stick.

THe Osco-Lambert brakes were offered as an upgrade by dealer installation and IH support. They were in reality no better than the drum brakes, and required more maintenance as they wore. The interest they generate is because of rarity, but that is OK by me. Jim
