tire size on a 574

I have a 574 with 14.9x28 tires that I would like to change to 16.9x28. Will they fit on the same rims? What width rims will it take to accommodate the 16.9's? Thanks

Hi Kevin, my brother has a 3230 (newer version of 574) it has 18.4 x 30 tires on 15" rims I believe.
His 684 has 18.4 x 34 tires on 15" rims.
His 495 has 16.9 x 28 tires on 12" rims but really should be 13" rims as the tires have a high center and have to run with less air pressure to get all the rubber on the ground.

Sounds like I need 15" rims to move up to 18.4"s. Do you guys agree? Found a good deal on some 18.4"s and was hoping I could change them out with my 16.9"s, which are mounted on 13"s-if I am measuring them correctly. Is it hard to find just the rims without the center discs?

Hi Kevin, is there any farm machinery salvage yards in your area. My brother got a pair of 13x28 rims from a wrecked combine.
Are you using the 574 for anything that ground speed is critical because if you put larger tires on the ground speed will increase. The 74 and successor series of tractors had at least 3 different transmission speeds, slow, med and high. The transmission speed installed can be determine by the serial number suffix letters xxxxBS is fast gear box with 20 MPH gear set.

I have 18.4 x 26 on my 574. These are a one piece wheel, like would be on a backhoe or industrial machine. The rims are 16" wide. The tire is marked 18.4 on 16" rim. Wengers in Meyerstown Pa. found me a replacement wheel not long ago, as one I had rust issues with. They've been on the tractor since 1975.
