The throttle response on my 1955 300 has declined to the point where I only have a very fast idle and a slightly faster full throttle. I checked the adjustment per the tech manual and could not find anything out of specs. My question is in regards to the spring in the governor assembly. There is a lot of slop in the spring tension in the idle position. I can not adjust anything to tighten it up. Is this normal? or is the assembly just worn out?
