Any ideas on a cub engine that Hunts when started any help would be appreciated

I'd suspect a tiny bit of trash in the idle circuit of the carb. May be time to pull the carb, take it apart and give it a good cleaning.

After it has started and run for a bit does it stop doing that?? I have one cub I worked on a few years back and it always hunted when first started up but after a few minutes it stopped and ran just fine. Also does choking it help or hurt?? If it helps then it is running lean if it hurts or does not help then it could be linkage binding

It's like surging. The governor kicks in and out causing the rpms to go up and down.

had the carburetor apart cleaned it. Would a miss do it? thanks for the help

"Hunting" generally means a mixure a little too lean in my experience. Could be an air leak or just not enough gas coming into the mixture.
