560 and 656 same engine?

I found a nice 656 gas that is stuck. I have located a 560 LP engine that is a pretty good runner. I would like to put the 560 LP engine in the 656 and have a good useable tractor. Are these the same engine? If not, what are the differences? What if anything would have to change to do the swap? Thanks in advance for all your replies!

You are working with the same engine family. All you will need to do is change the front timeing case cover, just swap the two out.Other minor things carb, maybe the govenor and linkage the air cleaner off the 656 will go on the 560 motor. The motors are the same cid,HP and rpm.Fairly easy swap.

That lp engine may have a high compression. Maybe too much to be working it hard on gasoline. Or are you going to run it on propane?

You will also need to install the rear plate from the 656's engine on the 560 engine. Bell housings are different between the two tractors.

They are similiar, take same gaskets, but 656/706 C263 has a combustion chamber shape that is different, as stated other replies it will fit, but be advised that dome of piston is specific for later tractors, also head casting, I would agree that LP is higher compression, if you lived in higher altitude such as Colorado might work.

I plan on keeping the 560 motor LP. I have a good LP tank that I plan on mounting on the 656. I forgot to mention that the 656 is a Hydro. Will that make a difference? Can I use the 656 hydro flywheel on the 560 motor? Thanks in advance for all your replies!
