Super C steering shaft

How do you get the this shaft off?

I have driven the pin out, oiled it up several times, heated it up a couple times, I didn't cook it, trying not to destroy the seal.

I want to replace the u joints

I have never removed this particular u joint but I would envision trying a large C-clamp and possibly an over sized socket on one side and an undersized socket on the other to push the joint out. It appears to be a friction fit and I don't see a keeper. This is a suggestion only and it may not work. Be sure the C-clamp is well lubricated. I have used a vice to remove and replace bearing cups on u-joints and it reduces the likelihood of loosing needle bearings.

I've never really had a problem removing that joint before. I've taken a couple apart. I've just drove the pin out and Pried on it. Not to sound like a jerk, but did you take off the mid shaft support bearing? It seems to me I had to have it off so the steering wheel could go up and down, and then it would allow you to relieve the pressure you're exerting as you try to remove it. It's been a few years since I had to take one apart, so my memory could be foggy...

They can be hard to remove sometimes you need a torch and the u-joint being so close to the housing makes it all that much harder but with the whole unit off the tractor at least you can apply force from the other side but im afraid you will need a torch. Its only been on there 60 pluss yrs.
