How do you know if your governor spring is wore out or not. My super m seems to not have very good throttle response. I know its not the carb or dist. I was thinkin maybe the governor spring or something inside the governor. How hard are they to rebuild and what usually wears out inside them? Is it expensive to fix or rebuild, i know a spring is only $10. Could i get a stiffer spring for better response?
thanks.

take yours out and go down to tractor supply and compare for a little stronger spring . that's what I do .

Before you start swapping springs, rebuilding the governor, etc. check the governor to carb throttle shaft linkage is properly adjusted (adjustment is on the bellcrank beneath the sloped cover atop the riser on the gov housing.)

Also if you decide to swap governor springs, a stiffer spring will "wake up" a sluggish governor. But it will also make it more likely to hunt/surge.
