I got an H going recently after sitting 20 years and when I drained the rearend it was mostly water and some sludge. How much does it hold? I just need to know how much gear oil to get. Also how much air do you guys run in 12-38 tires? Thanks

The transmission holds 6 gallons of gear oil. There is a small plug on the left side of the transmission that will indicate when you have enough oil in it.

You may also want to consider before filling it with oil, to flush it with Kerosene or diesel. I know when I drained mine, the oil looked like milk from the water. I removed the top cover and it had sludge coating everything inside. Used diesel on a rag and cleaned it all out.

An H rear end will take about 7 gallons, give or take a quart or so.

I run 10 - 12 psi in the rears on my Super H.

I would dump the contents, then add a couple of gallons of diesel and drive around a little. You can then dump that and add the new lubricant.

I did put in some used Hytrans I had just taken out of another tractor just so it had something in it to move it around. Would that count? If not what do you do with all that gooped up kero? Thanks guys
