non pressure radiator cap

I have a 1941 H I've been working on and it's now running and helping out around, my question is is there any advantage to a nonpressure cap or is it a good idea to switch to a pressure one? I'm going to try baling with it this year and would hate to overheat it. I didn't know if this was original or just something that ended up on there. There is no second position on it or tabs, it's just a round cap that turns on and off easily. I've never seen this before and wondered about it,
thanks
Eric

The cap is specific to the radiator. If the cap is similar to the fuel cap that is a non-pressure cap and no, the pressure cap will not fit that radiator. The cap will make no difference in temperature. What a pressure system does is allow the coolant to run a few degrees hotter without boiling.

Interesting thanks glad I didn't mess with it. That old tractor is so uncomplicated yet it works so well I love it.

The older ones like you have, (I have one too, a '40), have a colder thermostat in them to compensate for the non-pressure system. I've worked mine hard in July and August here in the South and never had it see the high side of 160 degrees.
