cultivator on b farmall

Look at the existing lift lever. The action of that lever when lifting needs to be duplicated with a cylinder. (front linkage steering cylinders from medium duty trucks (junk yard) are powerful enough.
Power the pump (from a powersteering system again from a medium duty truck) with a belt from the engine. Use an open center valve, and a 2 gallon reservoir. Jim

Jim which lever set-up are you talking about as there were three types of lever assys used on the B cults. I know as i have all three.

Jerry, a picture is worth 1000 words. It's hard to help without really knowing what you're working with.

We can also take your picture, and draw out what you should do using a paint program... At least those of us with any artistic ability.

In a nutshell, though, you need to identify the "pushrod" that lifts the cultivators, and replace that with a hydraulic cylinder. Sometimes there's room to install the cylinder directly, sometimes not.

You'll probably need to fabricate an anchor point that's attached to the body of the tractor for the cylinder to push off.

You won't need a very large cylinder, or a very long one. If the cultivators lift separately on each side, the ideal situation is TWO cylinders, but you can also rig up some sort of mechanism

Not an issue! The know how to engineer a solution would be to assess the existing syatem of levers(as noted there were no pictures, thus a generic answer). Removing the pawl/latch from a lever so it could move freely, placing a cylinder so it could push the lever toward the lift position (might include fabricating a bracket for the base end of the cylinder and a pivot for the ram)
I have made systems in the past for a variety of lifts, it is geometry we are not provided in this case. Jim

One lever system on the B the levers are pulled back and the othere system they go forward. The two lever system for each row also go back. So we are talking about using a twp=way hy system as the wt of the cult wont pull the cycl eniough to let it go down then there is the depth issue. Ive only been around the cults for the B since 1947 and now I sell or restore have parts also Guy is coming here to IOWA this summer with his B for a restored one and go on the WMT TRACTORCADE three day ride he lives in the LA area originally from here.
