560 diesel international

I am looking at a 560 international diesel wheatland, and the story I got was that it just up and quit one day. When the tractor is pulled, it won"t smoke. Does this mean that something let loose in the pump? What do you guys think? Thanks

You need to see if there's fuel flow from the tank. Replace the filters and bleed the fuel system. Hal

We had two Cummins engines on one vehicle and one on another vehicle. It was a pain to bleed the air from these engines until we put several pounds of air pressure on the fuel tank. That solved bleeding the air. Both of these vehicles were mobile field dynanmometers. Here's a pic of the one with 2 engines. Hal

I made a special fuel cap for IH's that were hard to bleed. I took an old fuel cap and drilled a hole and brazed a tire air valve into it. Be careful not to put too much air to it!

There's a little window in the side of the injection pump with a plate over it. Remove the plate and see if the pump is turning when you crank the engine over. If the engine was running fine, then just quit, it may have sheared off the pump drive. It happens- ask me how I know!
