I called about this Super MTA. The gentlemen said he was the only owner and all original. Can some explain why the Super MTA (Torque Amplifier) decal is position this way? Is this correct or not?

I do not believe those decals are original to the tractor. There is no indication of the "made in Chicago, USA" under the "FARMALL"

The S-MTA decals are on the wrong side of the hood. There is a right and left pattern for them and the one on the right side s/b on the left and vice versa. The "tail" on the bottom should be pointing to the back of the tractor, Hal.

(quoted from post at 07:05:39 04/26/12) Were any of the M TAs built in Louisville Rusty????

Can't say for sure, but even if some were built in Louisville, the decals would have been the same because "Chicago, U.S.A." was the company headquarters.

Yea,I know they all say Chicago.

I just wondered because the SMs were BOTH Chicago and Lousville.I wasnt sure about if the M TAs were built in Louisville?

I know,kinda off the topic!

How do you place them on the wrong side, without having them wrong side out? The sticky stuff is only on one side of the decal isn't it?

If it came that way from the factory (which I doubt) they were simply put on backwards. As to the sticky side, the Farmall decal can be put on backwards too. The made in Chicago thing appears to be in black paint at the bottom of the decal, although it is unreadable. I seriously doubt if it came from the factory with reversed decals, regardless of the owners lack of memory.

I.D.K.......The "Caution Pressure Cooling" decal is on the side of the grille. It is supposed to be on the top. The "Gasoline" decal is on the side of the tank also and it would only be on a tractor that had the small gas starting tank (ie distillete).

I doubt that the "inspector" at FARMALL would have let this one go out the door looking like this.

My best guess, is this was an older repaint (partial?) and somebody used ALL of the decals in the set, because they had them to use.

Rusty, In order for the tail on the bottom to point to the rear on both sides of the hood reverse image parts are required. A very common issue to deal with when putting something with features which are suppose to appear the same from both side of the vehicle. We dealt with that all the time on aircraft especially wing components. Take a piece of paper and cut something that resembles the SMTA hood decal and you will quickly see that if the same one (with glue on the same side) is used on both sides one of the tails would point forward. Those two decals are reverse images of each other unlike the circular one on the Super Series models being round and are correct for both sides. That tail on the bottom pointing to the rear is what makes opposite hand decals required.

Thanks Randy,I was not sure about that one ???

Hey,one more question about M TAs. Arnt they considered Stage 3s???

Some guys on Red Power are calling some Super Ms Stage 3s. I think that is incorrect.

Anybody "chime in " here.

i never considered any stages. around here a super m was a super m and a super m with the battery under the seat and live hydraulics was a later super m and a super mta was a super mta.
