Ok guys, when you were building your projects was there something you would do different after your project is done.

I'm trying not to forget anything...

Anything you would do different on your projects?

check my other posts to see current progress on my 560

Thanks!!!!!

Make sure all oil leaks are gone for good it sure sucks to mess up the new paint to fix one.Been there done that lol!

We have done several thinks to tighten up various things.

Replaced all the hoses, wiring, etc. Also we have replaced ANYTHING that was leaking :) including oil pan, head gasket, & valve cover.

We removed head even though it ran great, sent it out and completely when through it, just to be sure :)

Sent carb off and got it rebuilt

Generator & starter rebuilt, also had radiator professionally cleaned.

thanks.. keep ideas coming

Colby, I think you are doing it right. You are making sure the tractor is 100% mechanically functional before you ever started on the cosmetic part of it.

Way too many people get it backwards and do the pretty stuff first, and then end up with nothing more than a pile of junk that may not even start, with a high dollar paint job on it.

If you can I would work it to make sure the trans gets good and
warm along with the engine and then see if you have any leaks. I
would hate to have it looking so nice and 10 hours later start
having oil start seeping through. It will happen though sooner or
later. Good Luck.

yes we have....

Guys who are helping me have lots of experience with heavy shop work and we have done MANY little things to make things "right".

The clutch pedal was sloppy, we removed and rebuilt.... couple bolts were broke off into front chassis, we removed them and cleaned out all the holes with tap.

going well!

Yeah i have seen that befor went to a auction that had a super md very nice paint job but still had a few oil leaks did not look very nice.

Colby, since it has been quite some time since the carburetor was rebuilt, do me a favor and give it a quick test before you install it. Hold the carburetor in the upright position, put your mouth on the brass fuel inlet fitting and blow. You should notice only a slight resistance. Now turn the carburetor upside down and blow into the fitting again. If the float and float valve are working correctly, you should NOT be able to blow into that fitting. Needle valves have a tendency to stick, especially after setting for this long. I took some precautions to ensure it would not happen, but it would be better to know BEFORE the frustrations begin.

A good, sharp smack or two with your hand on the side of the carb bowl should cure any problems.

Look especially closely at the pushrod cover. Each screw is supposed to have a rubber gasket.

Did you rebuild the engine? If so how do you plan to break it in so the rings seat and it does become an oil burner? Refer to your operators manual for breakin oil, hours to run it and at what speeds to run, when to drain the breakin oil and start using normal oil. I know you don't want to work this tractor but it should be worked for at least for at least the first year or your run the risk of the engine sticking and you will not be a happy camper! PLEASE Do NOT LET THAT TRACTOR SIT IDLE!!!!!! USE IT AND WORK IT!!!!!! Armand

Before we torn the tractor down, we had everything in PERFECT working shape. Other than leaking at rear hyd remote, which will be all replaced new.

We decide to pull the head, because we weren't sure how good it was. I knew the piston/rings/bottom end was done years back and just wanted to be sure heat was good. Head is back from shop and looks great with clean bill of health (new valves seats, etc), & it's all ready to get mounted back on.

Thanks for all the help everyone..... keep it coming.
