I have a question for Farmall H tractor collectors.Did any Farmall H's come with disc brakes, but was NOT a Super H?I seem to remember our old Farmall H to be a 51-53 Model with Disc brakes, but did not have the "Super" designation.Would like to find our old tractor,or one like it,but its been gone 40+ yrs and I cant remember some details.Dad sold it to a sawmill near woodville/elmore,ohio in the late sixties early seventies.Any info would be appreciated! We lived near Curtice, ohio at the time.Bill Vargo [email protected]

No---Super H's began with serial 501. Also Lambert disk brakes were an option before IH started making their own. If you can remember that far back, Lambert covers were held on by 3 bolts, IH by five.

Cant remember that much detail.I remember dad saying it was newer than our 1951 JD B.But I know it wasnt labeled as a Super.

H tractors made in january 1953 had band brakes to serial # 391357, then disc brakes just like a super from 391358 until the last one made. H tractors 391358 up used most parts a early type SH did. Only difference being engine size, transmission gear ratios and sheet metal emblem and decals.

Yes, you could get Lambert disk brakes on H's & M's as early as 1940, they were a special order item. I have a friend that has a 1941 H w/Lamberts and have seen early M's with them. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Until the middle of 1941 H and M tractors used bull pinion gears with a keyway to keeep brake drum from spinning on the shaft. Add on disc brake attachment only worked on the splined bull gear pinion shafts. Early keyed shafts required a change to later splined type use the attachment. This makes me think if the attachment was made starting in 1940 some attachments would be made to fit the keyed shafts. Think the attachment to install on H tractors may have started around 10 to 11 years later than 1940.

We've got '53 H with serial # 391474, it has disc brakes like the super H, the L shaped pto pull rod like the super instead of the pull "loop" also as well as some other Super features. It also has the 10 1/2 " clutch. As far as I know this tractor has been in Wisconsin since new.
