Starter, no Generator??

I think all the electrical stuff was sold as an option so somebody probably just added a starter if the tractor had a mag on it. Maybe someone took off the generator.
 
For B farmalls, IH sold a starting attachment only, but it was for tractors that already had the lighting attachment. The lighting attachment included the genny.
 
You had to have a battery for starting so there would have been a gen. The A@B series had a gen for lites but no battery. Early flywheels didnt have a place for a ring gear later they had a field add on for a starter also a place for the starter in the bell housing and flywheel was made for a ring gear. Starters were an option in 40 in March for the A
