CASE IH Parts search

What happened to the CASE IH website. Once was a time when everything clicked wonderfully.

I am working a 45 Farmall H and was looking for the assembly breakout and parts number for an oil seal for the brake hub going into the gear box.

I can look at disk brakes all day long but no matter how I approach it "H" or "HV" they only offer information for disk breaks .. not band brakes.

I still need the seal and even amongst the 4 paper manuals I have ... I still cannot find this one simple item.

Evidently I am still one important manual short ? .. or there may be a better online resource to pin this down ?

That website is a bit more cumbersome than it used to be, but if you're needing the brake pinion seals, I've got 'em.

That was so quick it almost scares me *g*.

... and that would be a yes. The closest I could get was a leather brake housing so you guess how well the right brake has been working.

So that would be a "yes". Thinking if I'm going to replace one .. it may as well be both and call it complete.

Thank you RustyFarmall. How do I contact you ?

The part you need is in section:

144 - CHASSIS, REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL, SERIAL NO. 501 TO 391357

It is the bull pinion shaft seal, part of the differential, not the brakes.

All the band brake parts are in section:

148 CHASSIS, COUNTERSHAFT BRAKES AND CONNECTIONS, SERIAL NO. 501 TO 391357

I keep a short cut on desk top direct to parts and
service and still get the old site. If I just go to
CASEIH and follow the links it still works like
always. If I go to the dealer web page it is all screwed up.
I used to order parts online but don't do that
anymore as they want to charge them to me, and not
my customer so I just call in now. If I order
online and the wrong guy gets ahold of the order it
gets all messed up, isn't worth the trouble. Call
and talk to my man or nobody.

Wow this is fantastic stuff guys.

All excellent information and I thank you for the clarification too.

If you haven't looked at the site in the last few days, I think it has been modified again -- I was using the old one as you do--a direct copy of the parts book--now it appears to be gone, I think within the last week.

I used it yesterday to look up the pages for this thread... Looks the same as always to me.

Did you use the "search for parts" link down in the advertising drivel?

Yes, I used the search for parts in the drivel, it sends me to the new version, unless there is another drivel somewhere, I have not found it. looked about 10 minutes ago. Maybe the administrater is switching back and forth while he works on it. I know I found the original earlier this week.

On second thought, I think I am referring to an older version than the one you are seeing. The original version did not have the "index" that you quoted below. I haven't checked, but I assume those are page numbers, however they changed the wording rather than copying it direct and I have already found a mistake with the 450 hydraulic pump--it calls a spring a gasket. There are probably more errors -- look up 371 (I think) for the 450.

I thought there were two different approaches.

One from Messick and then the second from Case IH. It used to be it led to the same point but looking from the link offered here ... was an entirely different layout.

I'm not sure what to believe right now. Since you have mentioned it you may be onto something. A migration pattern over to a new layout or something.

In many cases the website was a better resource than a combination of 5 different paper manuals.

We'll see what plays out I guess.

This goes back a ways, but Messicks and CaseIH used to be identical except that Messicks had prices. The CaseIH one was an EXACT copy of the parts book. The "new" versions have been reworded and there are some mistakes. The site is useful for comparing different models, but I'm going to rely on my parts books for ordering parts.
