Have a new starter installed, had problems with the drive not always engaging, replaced the drive with the cushioned type that I believe Rusty Farmall recomends & has been working fine. I'm letting the farmer down the road use it for raking & such, but he had the problem with the starter jamming & didn't know the trick of putting in 5th gear & rocking back & forth (he's not that well versed in Farmalls) to free it up. My question is, what causes this to happen, & what's the best way to fix ? Is it just a matter of some lubrication on the starter drive shaft, although I believe that it's not dry, or would some light grease on the starter gear, shaft, & the ring gear solve this problem ? Thanks for all & any responses. AL
