706 shifting

Has any one ever installed one of those shifting kits that is suposed to improve the way these tractors shift,also wonder what this kit consists of,thanks for any info you may have,Al

A lot more then it takes to fix one . If and when you fix one with ORg. parts and get the clutch adjustment done correctly they shift great I have done many 706-806 shifters over the last 26-7 years and i have not bought anything other then factory parts.

What are the most common components that need replacement. I have to do mine soon and would like to have everything ready. Thanks.

The biggest thing that goes bad is the hole in the lid that holds the reverse pivot. Hole gets worn then won't go into reverse good. We just changed the mechanism over to the 56 series solved the problem and is fairly easy. The 56/66 series has a separate link for the reverse fork. The reason they have the lower case H pattern.
