case boys bad mouthing the RED Brand

They are still upset with their case tractors getting painted red and playing second fiddle. Like I said before, I became a Case mechanic when I came into work one morning back in 1984.Never got too excited about them. They had a few good ideas but lot of things that only a mother could love as the saying goes.

A bashing? On the Case forum? Ain't even going to bother. Sounds like a shoot-out with p filled water pistols. One would think both sides should be happy that there's a contemporary company that keeps an ok supply of parts for both companies. I wouldn't think AGCO has a lot of parts availabe, besides common expendables, for Cockshutt or the other merger companies that predate White.

I've used both IH and Case, and liked them both.

The Case I used belonged to one of my uncles, who loaned it to another uncle whom I helped by disking and dragging back when I was in high school. It had a head gasket leak, so it would spew enough water that we had to refill it twice per hour or so. It also had a little dirt in the carb, so it would stall every now and then. There was no battery, so I had to start it with the crank -- which was just about as big as I was, and seemed almost as heavy.

My current main tractor -- a 350 Utility -- would also stall occasionally, so I lined the gas tank last week and am now painting it before reinstallation. Happily, the starter has eliminated the "giant crank" problem.

The IH is undoubtedly nicer with power steering, fast hitch, electric start, T.A., and loader, but the Case always did what I asked of it too. So I can't really bash either one.

Now John Deere, on the other hand...

Okay, just kidding! I love green and yellow, too.
