She said, It's a sickness

Well that's what the wife said when I came home with this Super C. This Super C is number 6 to my farmall fleet. Of the other five, three are in service, one is now split in the shed for an overhaul, and one is getting a comprehensive overhaul. So I did not need another project. As I only gave $100 for it I thought I sould been awarded a medal.
This tractor was sabotaged, someone put sand down the oil fill. The PO "flushed it" but when I had the valve cover off there was still fine white sand in the nooks and cranies. It needs a starter, manifold, carb, and magneto, but I have spares of all of those. When I stuck a finger in the radiator I thought I saw oil, a closer look and it was Barsleak. Radiator was holding fluid, so, I used the sparkplug air fitting in each hole, put 100 pounds to #2 and bubbles came up in the radiator. Hope its just the gasket. PO ran it after the "flush", I might try to run it for five minutes to see how it runs before a total overhaul.
So how did I do?
Best Regards,
Charlie

What do you suppose they were running with that chain spocket on the back?

Looks kinda dangerous.

Gary

Before you go any farther the tractor isnt a SC its a straight C but still for that money how can you sleep id buy them all day for that kind of money

aside from the abuse the engine got, you done good! $100 bucks? there is multiple times that in parts my friend..........

It sure is going to take a lot of money to make it a decent machine, but at least you don't have much in it!

Can't go wrong for that money but I sure would not run it at all if it has sand in it. You know those tractors have a by pass type oil filter so if any got to the oil pump it will go right into the oil galley's, to crank and cam.

Gene, I was misinformed, I thought the hydraulics qualified it as a Super, kinda like the A. I stand corrected, so what are the differences between the two?
Regards,
Charlie

Gary, Yeah I don't know what they ran with that sprocket, but I could not agree more about its danger. It will be coming off.
Regards,
Charlie

A 2-C 10 mounted cornpicker on a C or Super C was driven by that type of chain sprocket, and I have one..a 2-C 10 that is......don't know what it would have driven other than the picker?? Cmore

Only six? You're barely catching cold!

Well bought, like others said, wheel weights and tires alone worth more than that.

All the big pieces are there so get'r running!

One easy to spot big difference between C and Super C. C has band brakes with stamped steel tear drop shaped brake housing. Super C disc brakes round cast iron housing.

(quoted from post at 21:32:34 07/19/12) The gas tank is raised about 2" above the hydraliqic tank and has a taller grill.
113ci vs. 123ci, curved brake and clutch pedals on SC vs more straight on C, bigger steering wheel on later SCs (this appears to have a SC steering wheel) and temp guage on hydraulics above the touch control levers, disc brakes.

You done good at $100! That one is pretty far gone. Personally I would part it and bring some other Cs or Super Cs back to life.

Hmm...

Better way to explain it to the wife... you bought weights for your project for $100 and they sent the tractor with you rather than unmount the weights.

Pretty far gone ???? He paid $100 for it with all the parts there and dang good looking tires !!! What shape would you want one in to consider it restorable ?

I would love to have the sproket since I have access to a corn picker and a tractor to mount it on. I need the sproket. Send me an email and let me know what it would take. Thanks. larry

(quoted from post at 17:58:39 07/19/12) You could get your hundred back outta the wheel wieghts alone !
I bought two sets of wheel weights for $300 and I thought I did pretty good.

To the OP: you know darn well you done good :)

Knock that darn sprocket off the next time you go out there before you do anything else and sell it to LMack there was a guy around here got caught in an unguarded PTO and his father found him... It makes me sick to think about it.
