IH 504 rear wheel seals

My 504 has hyd oil leaks on both axles.The manuel is pretty vague.Is this a simple process? Is there a kit?

Slide the wheels off, remove the caps and seals and replace, I think you also need felt seals from CaseIH, I have never worked on a 504. Seals are at least 30% cheaper bought from a seal/bearing place, felt must come from CaseIH, you also need gaskets from them. Clean the axle good before sliding the new seals over the shaft. A little grease helps. There is no kit, just individual parts.

Thanks,I assume I will have to drain most of the trans/hydro fluid out.On an unrelated topic, when I bought this tractor 10 years ago I replaced the hydro fluid and found 3 pieces of a ball bearing about 3/4" diameter in the drain pan, any thoughts? Everything works on it.

Pull the cover and see what you have. If one of those balls gets under one of the bull gears you will have a hole in your diff case. Could be it was repaired and not cleaned out, but the same thing can happen.
