Air/Fuel Ratio gauge

Has anyone ever put an air/fuel meter on one of these tractors? I have been thinking about doing this on the Super C that I use for pulling. With all the head work I did during the winter, the tuning window is very small when adjusting the carb. The directions say the exhaust must be over 600 deg. I would think it would be way over that. Just wondered what you guys thought.

Hydrocarbon samples are easy to find on Sun testing equipment. Many auto testing stations have them. Adjustment to slight richness will usually be on target. Correct timing affects exhaust temp radically. Jim

There are various styles that read an O2 sensor. You will need to the weld the fitting in your exhaust. The best way to go is a wide band O2 sensor however, they are more costly. Most performance automotive dealers/catalogs will carry them.

Note - an O2 sensor is not capatible with leaded fuel and will become fouled after a short time. You can read the mix and then remove the sensor but continued use with leaded fuel will foul them.
