Have a 706 with a 282 that rebuildt completely redone, sleeves rings, head redone, new valves, seats.it has a little blow by that comes out.tractor runs fine. I cut hay with it and that's about the hardest thing it has ever done.is it possable that it has broke in yet,it only has aroun25-30 hrs.anything I can do to get it corrected?

They are SUPPOSED to have blowby. It's how they breath fer goodness sake.

If it starts and runs, you're good to go. :>)

All answers below are correct. You need to field work it with a plow or other heavy load to properly seat the rings.

Allan Is correct. All 4 stroke engines and some 2 stroke, cars and trucks, tractors, rail and marine, prior to Positive Crancase Ventelation (PCV) systems, had dramatic external blowby from their "Road Draft Tube" (the same tube as on your tractor). Both moisture, and the tiny amount of gasses that pass by the rings (no perfect seal is possible that will last) must vent, or blow seals. With PCV, the owner/driver never sees the vapor. Jim

Years ago, we used to rebuild an engine, start it up and let er run for 2-3 hours to break in, then hitch on a plow and slowly increase the load. The engine would blow by until the rings seated (worn) in.

The last couple rebuilds, with the aluminmum pistons (from China probably)& Chrome rings, It take a long time with alot of blow by to break in.

Watch it for a while, you can check for compression to make sure.

One last thing, I have had trouble with the modern aluminum pistons expanding soo much that they lock up. Never had it like this before.

A new tractor usually takes at least 100 hours to break in with break in oil. Sometimes if it hasn't been under a load then repeat with break in oil for another 100 hours. As long as you aren't seeing a lot of oil coming out of the breather tube I wouldn't get excited just yet. Hopefully you did stagger the ring gaps.

Last old engine I broke in was a 366 v8 in grain truck about 10 years ago. First trip to elevator 50 MPH. By end of second day 70 MPH empty. She never used much oil

Ya need to hook it to a set of 4x16's and work the snot out of her now . One thing here i sure hope you staggered the rings on the pistons . Change the oil stuff in some #1 Case ih 30 weight Diesel oil and work her hard vary the engine Rpm 's and load If all you have done is mow hay at a set RPM and load that is not a good thing . when i rebuilt and engine i liked to run them in for a full day before i cut them loose to the customer then only CHORE work for the first thirty hours . Then turn them loose and run it like ya stole it . Show no Mersey take no prisoner .
