ok guys, spent few hrs tonight doing some more work on the tractor. See all the photos at http://colby560.shutterfly.com

Tomorrow night we are going to do lots of little things getting ready for to finish this week. To do list is... mount springs on pedals, complete all the clips/pins on 2pt, and couple wiring details also.

WOW, we are honestly nearly there! I just want to thank everyone for the support. This project has really turned into something amazing.

Tuesday night my painter is coming over, some air brushing of a few little things, plus painting axles black & mounting hoods and fenders. He's going to polish/buff them up too.

Wed/Thur balance of my parts arrive...
Chrome stuff: front wheel bolts, light switch, screws for dash light cover, air intake cover w/ wing nut, gas & radiator caps, coupler for rear hyd remote & few misc bolts/nuts/washer
Custom air filter also comes this week.
Mount both rear lights w/ Whelen LED lens

I was not happy with finish of wiring, so I re-did it tonight.
This was location of grounds before.... did NOT like it even though you cant see it.

BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR POSTS A VERY GOOD LOOKING TRACTOR WITY A LOT OF QUALITY WORKMANSHIP.THIS IS ONE TO BE VERY PROUD OF.

Do not "Paint" the axles. Stove black, or even a black (wide) Marks-A-Lot. Paint will be a constant issue and is not going to allow hub adjustment. The tractor is really outstanding. Jim

axles are just primed, they need to be painted.... are you thinking just red then?

I have thought all along they needed to be black.

thanks

They were never painted from the factory. Black is good to me as it is reasonable with the flash of the rest of the tractor. But paint (any) keeps the axles from being mooved in and out. Flat black paint would be OK if the axles will never be moved. Black permanent marker might not cover a primer well. (I would remove the primer and blacken it with a marker or stove black) If it will not be moved, paint of choice is fine. Jim

More I think about it and review the photos, honestly think red might look better.

have a day to decide

nice tractor!
just my opinion, since this is a custom tractor and you probably
won't move the wheels...
I'd go red on the axles, since the front center caps are red.
If the axles are black, the front center caps would have to be black too,
for eye 'balance'
Can't decide?.....paint one side black, the other red....then you will
know for sure which you like better :)

thanks guys... I agree, red axles would look good I think too. And you are correct, they won't get moved.

You must have copied the decal set from Maple-Hunter to create yours?? They are not like the ones we make based on original IH blueprints.

I noticed that you are missing 2 decals to have the complete set.

In Fay's "Originality Guide" he states that nobody makes one complete set with all the correct decals. He says something to the effect that you need to buy 2-3 sets and use certain decals from each. Is there any truth to that?

quality of these this EPIC, hard to see in photo. But laminated with clear too, looks GREAT! Really like the ones with black background.

Guys statement holds true on the letter series tractors. You need more than 1 set to get it right.

The Hundred and the fifty series tractors require two "sets" to get them all......The chassis set (caution/warning/instructional decals) and the hood background decals.

The 40-60 series tractors have only a chassis set. The set offered by most places is incomplete.

Ours (C&G) are based on the original IH blueprints and include everything. The most overlooked (and NOT INCLUDED decal) in the chassis set is the machine patent decal. IH never offered it as a service part. We do include these in our sets!

Thanks I just ordered a set.

Nice work... Where did you get your silicone hoses? Clamps, wire cover?

The minor details are what separates an excellent job from an average...
