H Clutch stuck

My 48 H will not disengage the clutch. I am at a loss... I am afraid to start it in gear that seems fairly unsafe in a shop.. I would appreciate any advice.

Roll it outside. Make sure you grease the fitting up under the belly that lubes the throwout bearing, 2 pumps from a full size grease gun is plenty. Fire it up in gear where you have a big open area. With it running, depress the clutch and keep driving. Apply brakes occasionally and keep driving. My 49 has a mag, just remember where the kill button is located in case its needed. Depending on how stuck it is, it may take several minutes. There is always a chance it may not release at all, but this normally works.

I have one H that the clutch sticks all the time. I first warm up the engine. Shut it off. Stick in reverse and start at idle and let it back out of the barn. Then I throttle up and drive around awhile with the pedal depressed. Takes about 1 or 2 minutes to unstick.

You get the idle problem fixed?

Thanks to both of you. I got it unstuck with your advice. Yes Red I got the idle right the governor was not right at all. No telling why it was like it was. Question.. Why does a clutch stick? Thanks for all of your help.

Yanmar has a wire that holds clutch pedal down a bit. keeps the clutch loose on the pressure plate and or flywheel. this seems to help.

Rust can do it if sitting for 6 months or so (shorter if high humidity).
Oil can contaminate the clutch and with heat, become an adheasive goo. Mice and other rodents can deposit "used oats" in the chamber.
New clutch disks can operate on the edge of wear on the clutch shaaft causing the disk to press against the pressure plate, or flywheel.
Using a wooden block to hold the pedal down when the tractor sits for some time will also prevent the reocuurance. Jim

Why does my MD have a little lever to look the clutch forward? I have only seen it on MDs. Seems this thing would be handy for this problem.

Dave I like your wheel weight bolts, that is sharp! Knock on wood no breakins at the farmhouse this year. Heard the arsonist is still on the loose.

Co-worker's F 12s clutch used to stick. He took it apart an found that it was full of old grease.
