so i got around to taking the 450LP im restoring on its maiden voyage yesterday and steering is not so good. steers very hard until i touch one of the hyd levers, then it works like a dream. im guessing its something in the priority valve, but im not schooled up on hydraulics very well and dont really know what to look for. any thoughts?? thanks!

Search in the Search for Box (farmall forum) for 400 factory power steering There are many posts on the issue, and this will lead you to them. 400 and 450 have similar systems. Jim

so ive read some of them and i know my plunger in the priority valve isnt stuck (can push it in with my thumb) and as soon as i hit a lever it pops shut. so where exactly is this o-ring at? do i need to slide the 3 hyd valva bodies off?

It is in the first valve in the trio. (so that it gets pressure first). There is a "U"tube hooked to it. THe plug with the Oring is samwiched between valve surfaces. The Oring is around this plug, and the plug, if I recall correctly, is about 1/2" in diameter, and about 9/16 long. Wardner, on this site has experience with them. Jim
