[b:e4bbcdd938]with all the rain we've gotten here (Maryland) in the past couple weeks it's really made all the grass (and weeds) grow, so while it was nice out I fired up the H and hooked up the Bush Hog 307. Here's some pics...[/b:e4bbcdd938]

[b:e4bbcdd938]My '46 H, 13.6's out back and 6.00-16's up front.[/b:e4bbcdd938]

[b:e4bbcdd938]8 acres took a little less than 1 1/2 hours to do, finished just before dark[/b:e4bbcdd938]

If you are blowing that much black smoke under load you are running little rich. There should be no black smoke. Otherwise it looked like a lot of fun.

was going to say the same about the smoke. better set the carb, not good for engine like this.

[b:a42516d726]most of the time it was a small haze of black, only times it was like that was when I hit a thick spot in the field. It was kind of relaxing, had ear plugs in, equipment humming, watchin the barn swallows fly around while I was mowing. Even watched a big red tailed hawk scoop up some field mice! I thought that was kinda cool[/b:a42516d726]

Yeah, she's a little rich, you oughta lean her down to where there's no black smoke except just a little visable wisp when she's working real hard. Nice old H, not "boogered up" too bad, I've sure seen worse. You're lucky she could do it in 4th...usually 3rd is about the optimum speed when mowing with that type of mower.

[b:584edf4c9f]It's got its fair share of cosmetic issues, but it's a runner. I've owned it for about 1 1/2 years now. Recently fixed leaky rear axle housing gaskets and seals, trans input seal, lift all pump drive seal, fixed the wiring issues, ignition tune up, and valve adjustment. Next up for it is gonna be a new set of tires (dry rotted BAD), some TLC to my seat assembly and hook the lights up...

one of these day's I'd like to put it on a dyno, just out of curiousity.[/b:584edf4c9f]

I wouldn't even think about replacing those tires until I can see the air coming out of them. Rubber is expensive now days, and you have a ton of tread there. I have used dry rotted tires for years with no issues. I would run'em till they won't go no more.

Running that rich you will need to pull the plugs and clean the carbon off them or rep-laces them. Maybe run one number hotter plug to keep em clean?
Best to give that load screw a turn and see how it looks.

The right front is actually split open in a few places and doesn't hold air the best. I have a bit of a connection to get tractor tires so I save a little bit, but yes tires are def expensive.

[b:4ec62f489e]Scored a set front wheel weights yesterday. Got them bolted on and just finished wiring up the lights.

As a bonus you can see my all original (including its original IH muffler) '47 cub in the background[/b:4ec62f489e]
