IHFORDFARMER, Check the Tag, See if there is a small triangle,,a Delta sign,, after the Serial #. If it has, them it probably had an up date on the rearend. Just after those tractors came out they had a bunch of rearend bearing problems and the tractor that got the update were stamped with the Delta sign after the Serial # Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

John, I believe Dad's '63 560 came with updated guts from the factory. Grandpa's 560 is a '59 model. It has an extra mark or two IIRC but no clear delta or triangle mark. We haven't yet figured out if it's been updated or not but it has never given trouble.

You have to check out Chad Colby's website on shutterfly, the link takes you to the facebook site then click on the link in the middle of the page to read the whole story and look at his pictures from start to finish. When these guys say its a 2012 Farmal 560 they are not kidding, its a work of art....enjoy it, i know i did!

MyFIL bought this F12 new in '37.After the engine 'cratered', he repowewred it with a jeep engine(military surplus) just after WW2.I reversed it and 'installed'the loader about 6 years ago.It was a fun winter project. Its used almost daily. This has been posted seversl times on YT.For some reason it seems to generate a lot of interest....Steve

First of all I have to disagree with Matt. Colby has a 560 Farmall with (I think) a narrow front. The 560 international is a wheatland model. I own a 560 Diesel that Dad and I purchased used (we are 2nd. owner) in the fall of 1964. It was the heavy power on 320 acres backed up by a 400 and an M (all fsrmalls including the ole F-20 which was used as the 2nd. tractor in a tandom hitch with either the 400 or the M) I now have a 560 gaser (narrow front/loader [the Diesel has a wide front/loader]). I wouldn't sell either one of the 560's. the Diesel spent a lot of time hooked to a John Deere #6 corn sheller with a Cook cylinder upgrade. Armand

Yep I have one.

Please don't give me any static over the Deere Fenders (LoL). I always though they looked better than the IH fenders on a 560 because they were smaller.

It's a good old tractor

They didn't always put the triangle mark on the tractor when they made the updates. You gotta keep in mind that it was up to the individual mechanic to make the mark, and a busy mechanic misses things.

mine is a 1960 with less than 200 hrs since engine overhaul this tractor was bought new by my wifes grand father he kept the tractor hid in the Cumberland river bottoms untill he had it paid for then he told his wife about the tractor  it was passed down to my wifes uncle and i bought it from him year before he passed. i wouldnt take a million dollars for it, my son is the future owner of it the best and the worst ? i just love the over the center pto. its hard to get on and off for a 50 yr old fat man with screwed up legs
