Im looking into two different tractors to pull hay wagons and gravity wagons. Now my question is how many loaded 500 bushel tandem axel gravity wagons can a IH 1566 pull? Unloaded? How about a IH 1066? unloaded? and the same for small square bale wagons? Thank you

10 and a 15? Empty wagons? A lot! Thing would look like a train before you hit the limit!

Loaded? Depends on the terrain/on or off road. I know that a 300 bushel loaded wagon is nothing to both tractors. My bil has a 1066 and had 1566. He pulled both loaded hay wagons and gravity boxes with a 560 and a 826. In the field the 560 could get a little slow cause you had to use a lower gear in soft ground but did OK with grain and would pull 2 loaded hay wagons with close to 300 bales total with ease.

The tractor won t be the problem, two wagons are
all right most of the time, three is a heck of a
load on the first wagon. Add a little wiggle and
you are asking for a problem.

thanks for the quick responses. i guess i didnt need to ask about the unloaded. didnt really think about that when i posted

504 is right. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. The weak link with running gears is the running gear. They are not really designed to piggy back. Not made to tow a load which in effect is what the fisrt wagaon would be doing, add another wagon then it's pulling 2 and the 2nd is now towing a load. Made to carry a loads. 500 bushels of beans is about 30,000 LBS. That brings up braking too. Just how much can that tractor safely stop?

If you are planning on hauling grain to on farm storage and there is any distance to travel you would be much better off with a truck.

I pull 2 450bu wagons loaded all the time on the road just need to use common sense you can't go wide open that is suicide but half throttle with my 986 & 1486 and have and take care of your wagons you will be alright.
