Lighting for M with photo

Having trouble with my light switch actually turning on the lights. I tested them before I ran the wires through the box by running them right off the battery and all three worked. I think I might be missing a wire. The photo shows the panel as it was when we removed it and we have hooked it up the same way. The amp meter is to the left and the light switch to the right. The upper wire with the blue is the two headlights. The red is from the fuse, and the black is to the rear light. Where is the hot wire? Seems to me we need some juice coming into that switch.
Several years ago I converted to a 12 volt system and at that point removed the voltage regulator. I am thinking maybe there was a hot wire coming from it.

If anyone can tell me if I need a hot wire and where it connects to, I would greatly appreciate it.

you have no juice to the fuseholder, needs short wire from hot side of ammeter to the nut on the short wire of the fuseholder.

Hook the short red wire to black wire on the amp gauge. To me, it looks like that little piece its connected to now is suppose to be for a ground wire. Ive never seen that before.

Here is my fix. John, I hadn't seen your reply by the time I did this, but is it working now so I will leave well enough alone.

Thanks for the help.

How is that little peice isolated from the coverplate? It looks like it just grounds out, and when you put the coverplate back on, and it grounds good, theres going to be sparks.....
