Farmall 300 gas tractor - oil in water system

How is my 300 getting oil in my radiator/water system? Other than a blown head gasket, is the any other way oil can be getting into the water?

Though most likely a head gasket, any internal oil gallery that has a crack that passes into the waterjacket could do it. The passage to the rockers would be the location of that, but go for the gasket. Jim

Is this a ongoing problem or something you just noticed? If the coolant pump is overgreased the coolant can look oily. Only other way I can think of is a leak on the pressure side of a oil passage. Like a crack in a oil passage or the oil hole through the head gasket to the head leaking. Most times after the engine is shut down and there's no oil pressure in the system coolant will leak into the oil if the above is the case. Maybe a crack in the rocker arm oil passage near the top of the head could leak oil and there not be enough coolant pressure that high to go back. Maybe other places, especially if the pressure cap on the radiator doesn't work.
