h running temp

I have a 1948 H that I use for Sunday afternoon rides and light work. My temp gauge did not work so I ordered a new one. The new one does not work. Is there a way to tell if it is running too hot without a gauge. I do not think it gets to hot but I do not know how to tell. I do not want to do any harm to this beautiful old tractor.

You need to work it pretty hard to get it hot. But there's a good chance the thermostat is missing or stuck open. It's right on top, easy to check and replace.

You need to work it heavy like pulling a plow to get it before the temp guage will move. Just take the old sender and put it into some hot water using a therm to get a reading on water temp then compare what the guage says. Have you placed a therm in the radiator when its running. You can even use a mitch to warm the sender up to get the needle to move.

Mine has a good thermostat, and will only come up half way to the running temp on the gauge. They have a very good radiator and a large thermostat bypass.
