Thought I had the correct seat for my 39 M but have discovered that some of what I have is incorrect. I have the bracket and bracket support with the big bolts and spring that sit on the deck. I have the seat itself but need everything in between the pan and the deck bracket. I have posted an ad in the classifieds with part numbers I need. Thanks.

Oops! That wasn't very smart of me was it? Rats is something I say in lieu of cursing sometimes. I should have known this would cause confusion. Sorry. Duh!

Did all of the '39s have that channel iron style seat? Or did the later '39s have the pipe frame style?

Too lazy to look up the serial break, but I think that seat and trans cover were used until sometime in 1940.

This would be the correct seat for a 1939 and early 1940. The seat pan would have black canvas with brass rivits around the edge.

I have an early 40 M March I think, It has the notch in the deck I was told but don’t have proof that the rear axle bearings deck and seat changes were about the same time. I bought mine years ago with a later seat mounted on it, so I don’t have the original.

I did however design a seat bracket that used the bent pipe type seat frame and the original large hold down bolt it does look somewhat original

When I painted it years ago I found that the casting numbers of one front wheel where years newer. I also found welds on one frame rail leading me to believe the tractor was in an accident or a roll over.

the bottem plate is the hard one. I had that and made the rest for my H useing this one as a template There is an add in Red Power magazine for a guy that sells all the parts but there not cheap but neather is an original. This picture is an original and I gave $375 for it about 7 years ago but its as nice as you can find. If you want the contact info let me know

The 1939 models had a different steering wheel too is should be all black and covered They make a reproductition one but it is 16" the right one for an M is 18" i came across a new original one on ebay about a year ago

anther item is the mags on the early ones used a cable to ground out to stop the engine. Here is the part for the mag the cable is like a choke cable and has an "S" stamped in the knob they are extreamly hard to find but I did find one and am trying to repair it now.

Thanks for all that info Paul. My M has none of those things you pictured. If all of those things were readily available I might pursue it but honestly at this point I don"t really think I am interested in taking this tractor to that level. I do want to get the seat right but I think I am going to stop there. Thanks for all of the info!
