Wheel weights on H

I cannot remember how the rear wheel weights go on the H. I have two weights per side, one side is flat and the other is concave. They are heavy enough I am not looking forward to experimenting.

Thanks,

Well if it was not dark out now I could go out and look. I know I have at least 2-4 Hs out there with weights still hanging on them plus I think the M has weights but since it is cold dark and wet outs I'll not go look at least not tonight. Maybe if you remind me I'll look next year. Oh and don't let that go over your head LOL

Plus I know I have a couple sets of full and half weights laying out there some place. Maybe where I can not see them right now but that is due to the dark first or is that 2nd and the snow LOL. Ya I'll try to look next year or tomorrow which ever gets here first. So the question which will get here first???

The dome side is toward the wheel. The oblong slot is aligned with the axle clamps so as to get to them. The second set has a bit of a gap if stacked the same way, or is flatter if stacked flat to flat. Jim

here is a picture of mine flat side out p.s. sorry the picture is not any better holding a spot light in one hand camera in the other

It will probably be next weekend before I put them back on. I have to paint the back side of them and move the boat so I can get the hoist on them. It is too cold out next few days to pull boat out.

i put mine on with 1 inch long all thread 'studs'

this way yo have to studs sticking out and all you have to do is slide the weight on them then put a nut on to tighten. sure beats the he** out of trying to hold a weight and fish a bolt though and put a nut on while holding it

like Janicholson said

I put mine on with a 4' steelworkers pry bar
wheel bolt hole at 12 o'clock
pick up the weight and hang it on the axle
pry bar thru a weight bolt hole
stand up with it (easy with the pry bars length)
stick the protruding pry bars point thru the
12 o'clock wheel bolt hole.
weight hangs on the prybar
slide the weight up tight on the prybar
put the other 3 bolts in
easy

I had 2 buddies help me mount these weights. 2 handle the weight and 3rd lined up all thread and bolted up.

These weights are on "backwards" as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't seem to matter as far as function.

I put my wheel weights on Sunday afternoon, I put both weights on the land (left) side. The bolt specs were provided by FarmallHal, he got them from his Farmall IH Parts Catalog.
For the first set bolted to the cast iron center:
3/4" x 4 3/4" NC machine bolts along with 3/4" lock washers and hex nuts.

For the second weight that bolts to the first weight:
3/4" x 3 3/4" NC machine bolts along with lock washers and hex nuts. washers should be 1 1/4" OD x 25/32" ID 10 gauge.

I ended up purchasing the bolts from fastenal.com, for the first set instead of 4 & 3/4 length I went with 5", for the second set instead of the 3 & 3/4" length I went with 4"

first set:
http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=20373
Fastenal part no 20373
¾-10 x 5” plain finish square head bolt
$4.42 each

second set:
http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=20369
Fastenal part no 20369
¾-10 x4” plain finish square head bolt
$3.65 each

I got lock washers and hex nuts from tractor supply as well as 1 1/4" machine bushings that I put behind the lock washers.

Each weight is 145 lbs, I lifted a weight to the cast iron center, lined up the holes and had my wife slip the top bolt in and finger tighten the nut. Then I was able to put in the other 3.

I used the method of 1st weight to wheel center and 2nd weight to 1st weight because I was lifting them by hand, but another method is getting longer bolts and connecting both weights with the 4 bolts instead of 8. Good luck.

Yooper, I never knew the exact weight, but they are heavy.

Thanks to all for the information, it helps a lot.

(quoted from post at 18:31:36 12/31/12) Are you sure it isn't the egg and the chicken LOL See what happens when I haven't had a beer in more then a week LOL
